Our guides grew up in Berber families across the Zagora and Merzouga deserts and the medina of Marrakech. They drive, translate, and share the Morocco they know first-hand.
Mustafa was born into a small Berber nomadic family in the heart of the Zagora desert in Morocco. Despite the challenges of growing up in such a remote area, he was fortunate enough to attend school, unlike his older siblings. In the 1990s, a severe drought forced his family to abandon their nomadic lifestyle and settle closer to a village with access to water for their animals. This change, though difficult, allowed Mustafa the opportunity to pursue an education. After completing primary school in his village, Mustafa moved to another village, where he stayed in a dormitory for six years to finish middle school. He later traveled to Marrakech, the nearest city with a university, where he earned a degree in Linguistics from Cadi Ayyad University in 2015. Following graduation, Mustafa held various jobs but always felt drawn to tourism, a field that had fascinated him since childhood when he saw tourists visiting his desert village. He began working for local tour agencies before realizing his dream of becoming a tour guide and starting his own company. For Mustafa, guiding tours felt like a modern version of his nomadic roots, as he moved around Morocco, sharing his passion for Berber culture and traditions with visitors. Mustafa's background in desert life allowed him to connect with other local guides, forming a strong team dedicated to providing immersive, authentic tours of Morocco, with a special focus on desert trekking and overnight experiences. As a team, their goal is not just to take visitors to picturesque locations but to deeply immerse them in the local Berber culture, way of life, and traditions.
Abdul was born into a nomadic family residing in the desert village of N'kob. In pursuit of his curiosity for language and culture, he pursued a degree in Amazigh Studies at Agadir University. After spending several years employed at a prominent hotel chain in Marrakech, Abdul proceeded to oversee opulent desert camps. Subsequently, he became a part of the esteemed Escorted Morocco Tours organization.
Said was born into a nomadic family in the Ramlia Desert, located in close proximity to the borders of Algeria. His birth in the desert has enabled him to develop an openness to diverse international cultures and nationalities. Following his experience as a camel guide in the desert, Said served for a period of three years at a luxurious desert camp. Subsequently, he joined our esteemed Escorted Morocco Tours family.
Anwar was born in the captivating ancient city of Marrakech. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Linguistics in Marrakech, which provided him with early exposure to various nationalities and cultures. As a result, Anwar possesses significant competence and knowledge of the diverse Moroccan culture and traditions, rendering him an excellent tour companion.
